Etymology of PODOMETER
The word podometer is a combination of two Greek roots: podos meaning foot and metron meaning measure. The word was derived from the Greek podos and metron which were combined with the English suffix -meter (from the Greek word metron) meaning an instrument to measure. Hence, podometer means an instrument used to measure foot steps or distance traveled by foot.
